The early days of VOODOO CYCLES are inextricably linked with the name Joe Murray, a pioneer and legend in mountain biking, who infused Voodoo with a unique philosophy.

My Story: Bringing VOODOO CYCLES to the Czech Market

This story is simple. At first, I just wanted a new bike. Browsing shops and test-riding one bike after another was never for me—same as with clothes. I bought one online: it looked modern and stylish, cost about two paychecks, but after a few dozen kilometers I knew it wasn’t right. I sold it and bought another—but this one didn’t convince me either.

I’m no professional, I wanted just a nice, lightweight, interesting bike that would last and ideally be unique. I love data and analyses—I rely heavily on reviews. I kept searching until I came across VOODOO CYCLES on foreign websites. After reading several reviews, I was hooked. The brand had numerous awards, praised for robustness, craftsmanship, innovative design, and capability in tough terrain. I also saw how well their bikes performed in competitions and magazine tests.

One model that truly amazed me was the Bizango Pro : a lightweight aluminum frame, excellent suspension, and geometry that gave confidence on fast descents. What convinced me even more were the reviews and awards for versatility, comfortable ride, build quality, durability, and great price-to-performance ratio. I knew this was the bike I wanted. Another thing that appealed to me about VOODOO CYCLES was its exclusivity. Many different brands ride Czech roads—but VOODOO? I hadn't seen one yet. It was clear to me that with such a bike I would truly stand out.

How I Fulfilled My Dream

When I discovered that VOODOO CYCLES weren’t sold in the Czech Republic, I thought: “Why not try ordering directly from headquarters?” VOODOO CYCLES is based in Taiwan, but shipping costs were huge. For some, that would have been the end—but I really wanted the bikes. I thought: “What if I import several at once? Maybe I’ll find other enthusiasts who share my vision and demands.”

I contacted VOODOO CYCLES and started negotiating. Everything seemed to be going well, but then the global crisis hit. Shipping slowed dramatically, issues with attacks on ships in the Red Sea complicated things further, and I had to find a lot of patience—a trait I’m not particularly blessed with. Yet, after more than a year, the first shipment of bikes arrived in the Czech Republic.

First Satisfied Customers

When I saw the first Voodoo bikes in person, I knew it was worth it. The first customers appreciated the design, quality components, and the way the bikes handled—they were smooth and easy to ride. Selling the first models confirmed I had made the right decision. More orders are on the way, and I believe VOODOO CYCLES will find their place among Czech cyclists. I’m convinced that a good product, fair price, and originality make their mark.

My main area of business is heavy-duty transport vehicles. A truck without wheels is like a bike without pedals—it won't take you anywhere. In that sense, bikes are part of our entire business. While trailer wheels must carry tons of freight, these bikes carry “just” you. For many, that's still a major challenge, and I wish every rider the strength to overcome it.
